Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on your individual situation, we can offer either commission-based accounts or advisory-based accounts. Compensation for commission-based accounts is based on transaction costs and commissions, versus advisory-based accounts compensation is based on a percentage of assets under management.

In a fee-based account clients pay a quarterly fee, based on the level of assets in the account, for the services of a financial advisor as part of an advisory relationship. In deciding to pay a fee rather than commissions, clients should understand that the fee may be higher than a commission alternative during periods of lower trading. Advisory fees are in addition to the internal expenses charged by mutual funds and other investment company securities. To the extent that clients intend to hold these securities, the internal expenses should be included when evaluating the costs of a fee-based account. Clients should periodically re-evaluate whether the use of an asset-based fee continues to be appropriate in servicing their needs. A list of additional considerations, as well as the fee schedule, is available in the firm’s Form ADV Part II as well as the client agreement.

To have the most productive meeting, bring a statement showing each of your assets, including any bank accounts, investment or retirement accounts, and employer 401k accounts. Include any information on debts or liabilities you may have as well.

It is common that investment plans with significant upside have risks associated with them and could potentially face a decline in the future. We will help you identify any risks with the holdings in your current plan to determine if it’s appropriate for you to continue to accept that risk.

We kick off our process by having a conversation with you. During this initial meeting, we’ll talk about assets and liabilities; setting realistic and measurable retirement objectives; assessing taxable income, deductions, and estimated tax status; estate planning; life insurance planning; and a disciplined investment planning philosophy. From there, we’ll build a financial plan designed to be easy-to-read that makes sense for you. Once it’s in place, we’ll proactively update your plan and check in with you on a regular basis.

You can schedule a meeting with us by scrolling to the bottom of this page.

We will discuss the appropriate frequency for updating your plan. Typically, this takes place more frequently during the first year of our relationship, and in most cases occurs annually in subsequent years. We also recommend notifying our team of significant life events, such as a change in marital status, a change in employment, or at retirement, as these will likely require an update of your plan.

As part of our standard level of service, we will check in with you at regular intervals throughout the year.
